Liposuction can now be done under local anesthesia. Unwanted fat is gently removed from stubborn areas, using tiny vibrating cannulas. The body can be contoured as well, accentuating natural curves at the waist, hips and buttocks. When combined with fat transfer, the results can be truly remarkable.
POWER ASSISTED LIPOSUCTION
Power Assisted Liposuction uses a reciprocating motion, to facilitate the movement of the cannula within tissue. The patients often feel this as a vibration. This innovation reduces the amount of manual force and physical effort required to perform liposuction, especially in areas with dense fibrous tissue. The result is a more comfortable experience for the surgeon and the patient, as well as more precise removal of fat, and creation of the body’s natural curves.
LASER OR VASER LIPOSUCTION
LASER technology turns light into a laser beam which is used to liquify the fat. VASER uses vibration of sound waves to do the same. The heat from these sources can cause additional skin tightening.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Most procedures can be performed under local anesthesia with a 2 day recovery. Larger procedures may require general anesthesia for the patient's comfort. Patients generally have these procedures on Thursday or Friday and can return to work by Monday. A compression garment is provided and worn after the procedure for 4-6 weeks. Velashape III treatments are available postoperatively to help with healing and smoothen out the results while healing is occurring.
